GADL - Go And Do Likewise - goanddolikewise.org

If you haven't heard what a cow project is, it is a solid and common vehicle for assisting the rural poor globally. It has been going on for a long time as a somewhat organized project, mostly propelled by the efforts of individual teachers and their classrooms, churches, organizations, and individual activists. It works and that is why we have chosen to add this project to the total stabilization of Rionchogu, in Kenya Africa.

Here's how it worked in the village of Rionchogu, Kenya:
  • Donations were collected to purchase a cow.
  • Cows were purchased locally, after examination by a veterinarian
  • Cows were placed on loan to a family. They milk the cow, have daily sustenance and possibly extra to sell.
  • The family is expected to properly care for the cow.
  • The cow is bred, once the calves have matured to produce milk they are distributed individually to other families.
GADL's cow project is completed for this time.  It is very successful and continues to grow as a self sustaining community effort. The leadership of GAD Kenya keeps a close eye on the health of the cows and monitors compliance by persons receiving cows.  They can revoke placement at anytime and relocate the cow to another family.
