Things You Can Do

Our concerns are many. Working both locally and abroad the path of our river is determined
by the terrain presented to us as we move forward. Though our course may veer right or left,
the destination remains the same. We will GO AND DO Likewise.

Unable to Donate Financially?

The unique quality of GADL's non-profit organization is our ability to realize the potential of all contributions to every aspect of our structure, from it's communications/internet presence to the very act of Going & Doing. Each portion of our process exists because of the contribution of shared ideas from those that make a choice to become pro-active at what-ever capacity they can offer.

From this stance of faith many opportunities, and the unveiling of possibilities, has caused a small local charity to expand beyond anything any one participant imagined or anticipated. Thus, the list below encapsulates a mere suggestion as to the possibilities of your involvement. GADL is always on the search for, and completely open to, fresh ideas and unique suggestions that will help to serve our community based organization. Please feel free to express yourself or donate in other ways on the Suggestion Box page.

A List of Ways You Can Help (serves as a guide only)

  1. Go And Do Kenya
  2. Donate Financially
  3. Share Ideas, Insights, & Perspectives
  4. Share Your Talent, Knowledge & Gifts
  5. Share a Product or Service

Examples of Bright Ideas

One of the unique contributions that have helped to expand the boundaries of our efforts in Kenya includes the suggestion of solar powered lighting to provide the people of Rionchogu with light in which to lengthen the hours to study and participate in community activities safely and cheaply. Everlite® has come forward offering at cost and below cost products to help provide this much needed resource.

Our Microsite Support program indexed on the Support Our Volunteers page is our new strategy that allows those wanting to Go & Do Kenya to raise the funds that will allow them to participate. These fundraising sites are hosted for free (webspace also a donation made to GADL), and the domain name paid for by GADL for the duration of participation in GAD Kenya. We realize it is in our best interest to support those who wish to Go & Do but may otherwise not have the means to do so on their own. The funds raised by individuals on these microsites go directly to funding travel expenses, immunizations, and the cost of basic living expenses while residing in Kenya. All excess proceeds are donated to the costs of the current project in Rionchogu and to promote the growth of GADL and it's ability to reach more viewers and participants. Every volunteer pays for the majority of their own participation. None of the officers of GADL receive monetary compensation for any of the work they do for GADL and they too are responsible for their own travel costs to Rionchogu.

The first microsite was conceptualized by GAD Kenya's volunteer Julie Barilone who hired her friend Sherry Lawler Sparks to design her personal fund raising website. This opened up the door to the Microsite Support Program. Ms. Barilone has generously offered her site as a template drastically reducing the costs to others wishing to follow in her footsteps and have their very own fund raising site. GADL has met Julie's contribution by offering to pay the technical fees associated with customizing the new sites. Once web space was donated, GADL met with offering to pay for unlimited bandwidth to house the entire family of GADL websites & microsites.

Within a few short days after Julie launched her website, a friend stepped forward offering her his frequent flier miles which entirely paid for her plane ticket.

And this is how GADL works. It begins with an idea or suggestion, and grows to accept what we feel to be a limitless fount of possibilities.
