Our concerns are many. Working both locally and abroad the path of our river is determined
by the terrain presented to us as we move forward. Though our course may veer right or left,
the destination remains the same. We will GO AND DO Likewise.

- Securing the Future
Secondary Education (High School equivelent) is the key element to reduce the economic and future uncertainty of the people of Riochogu. Unfortunately only students passing a national exam may qualify for secondary education, and only those with access to school fees, which amounts to a substantial sum of money for a person living in Rionchogu, can afford to attend Secondary School. Without high Secondary School test scores college is certainly out of the question. Without education tomorrow will not be different. We refer to this lack of education due to the absence of school fees as the cycle of poverty and illiteracy.
GADL's goal is to make sure that every qualifying candidate has the means to attend and finish Secondary School. For each student entered in our scholarship program, there is a different level of family funding and GAD Kenya financial support that is needed to make this a reality.
An average year of secondary school is available to students at the cost of $350.00 to $600.00 per year. Boarding schools, who's entry fees are the most expensive, have the highest success rate for students passing the exam to qualify for University. Your support of $30.00 a month ensures at least one student the opportunity for a years education
Below you will find a list of candidates that have passed the National Test and have been assessed by the village leadership and the GAD Kenya Board. Without support through assisting with school fees they will remian in the P/I (poverty/illiteracy) cycle. We have listed them in no particular order. All of these students need assistance, however if you find it hard to choose and if you would prefer to make a general scholarship donation pleaseclick here. The GAD Kenya board will use your donation to assist the students according to the urgent needs they asses. For a more personal connection please scroll down through our list of student hopefuls and request that your donation go directly to a particular student. You can choose to fund a year's tuition all at once or through monthly installments. If you are unable to offer a full year's tuition, but wish to contribute to an individual students general fund, you also have that option.
Our Priority Student Scholarship Candidates - Rionchogu
A confession of sorts is due here. We had intended to give the interested potential sponsor a list according to some predetermined priorities which we had envisioned. The truth is that for each of these students the challenges, their past accomplishment or lack thereof and their current status to move forward are closely tied to a restrictive past due to the cycle of poverty and illiteracy we speak of and which exists in this part of rural Kenya. Each student we feature on this site has been approved for support by GAD Kenya and the local leadership in Rionchogu-Kenya. We ask only that you take the time to look through those who are listed and find YOUR connect. We find that most often a particular student will stand above the rest, for whatever reasons, but in the case that chosing becomes difficult, know that each and every one will go forward into a changed life because of your compassion and financial support.
Thank you!
